The Almost Not Quite Somethings is a poem my brother wrote years ago that captured my fancy. I drew the illustrations while binge watching The Amazing World of Gumball with my son. The whole project was a lot of fun. The book is super short and perfect for little ones with limited attention spans who like colorful pictures. You know that strange place between sleep and awake

Where the Almost Not Quite Somethings are?

They start as Aunt Betty, turn into spaghetti

and then a hot brand new sports car

You drive it awhile and you're starting to smile

When the Almost Not Something begins

To change to a cactus (it needs lots of practice)
