ART - I Made My Own Thank You Notes

Updated: Nov 8, 2020

First, I was like:

Why make a post about thank you notes? That's stupid. It's barely even art.

Then I was all:

No it's not, you're stupid.

The conversation went downhill from there.

The result is this post wherein I espouse the benefits of gratitude in general and making your own thank you cards specifically.

Gratitude isn't just good manners, it also provides a host of mental health benefits, including: improved heart, mental well being, resilience to trauma, a generally improved mental attitude, an optimistic outlook and less chance of others desperately trying to avoid you and your unhappy demeanor.. just sayin'.

On a personal level, the benefits of creating your own thank you notes include the following. (some of which may be unexpected):

  • You create something cool

  • You express appreciation to someone

  • That person receives affirmation and feels good

  • You feel good

  • You start looking for people to be grateful to (and for)

  • Your life becomes richer as you develop a habit of gratitude

That last one is the key.

You are likely to find what you seek. If you are constantly looking for people to let you down, you will find them. If you are actively seeking those who bring value to the world, you'll find them too.

Make them a thank you card. It's nice.

The music in the above video consists of me tapping on a hardcover book with binder clips and a post it note on it, then improvising over the top with a piano. It's messy, but I like the way it turned out.
